"You say that like it would ever actually leave me," Adrian pointed out. He knew it wouldn't. The thing was too attached, and Adrian was the one who fed him, so the cat wouldn't go anywhere. "I'm probably going to have to take it back to Court. That'll go well."

"That depends, does your aunt approve of pets?" Dimitri asked, not having heard whether or not Adrian kept a cat when last they were at Court.

"It's not her I'm worried about," Adrian admitted, looking down at the cat trying to paw at his leg again because it wasn't getting quite enough attention. "If nothing else, I can find someone who'll take it, I bet." And then he might see it again. So he had a soft side. Sue him.

Dimitri nodded, thinking it was good that Adrian's world finally got themselves together enough to send him a proper escort. "Good."

"Does that mean you're wanting to get me out of here now?" he asked.

"That's why I'm here," Dimitri nodded. It wasn't like he hated Adrian or anything, he just had a job to do.

"Right." He hadn't been expecting a touching goodbye, but he had been expecting a little more than that. "Let me just pack up the cat and we'll go."
