The Briar and The Rose: Chapter Ten

Apr 25, 2007 17:42

The months passed into Evie’s twenty-third year and the climate of Tortuga was changing. At first it was subtle, like the far distant scent of cannon-fire on the breeze that sometimes swept into the bay and Evie thought perhaps it were simply that she were getting older though her mirror still reflected back an altogether pleasing countenance. No, really. Oooooohhhhhhhh *iz hartbroken* And I know- I fear- it's going to get worse, but this chapter was so awful (in it's events), I lost my appetite!

I cann't over-stress how REAL your Hector is, and do you know I never realised in all this time (until you made me see here how he was changing), that he was 'out of character'. I think it's because to me (and to you I can see) he isn't. We always saw the man you've written -we've always seen the humour and the energy and the fierce life that was in him, hidden under that fucking curse.

Gah- rambling, just so so so torn. Poor Hector, poor Evie! And from now on, whenever I watch the film I'm going to have another layer, because I never thought for a moment that the old sea-dog would have a loved one waiting for him to come home. I always thought of him as a lonely pirate but now Evie is in my canon. &hearts

*is deeply honoured* that's a thrill to think of, to be in somene's canon... I'm exceptionally flattered.

I know how the story will end, am considering writing a one shot sequel to tie in with his resurrection but want to wait and see awe before commencing it, if he and tia have a romance i'd want to know how to structure things. I don't know.

in a way I want to leave the story at its planned ending, on the other hand... well, I can't say too much without giving things away. :)
