Non-Nine and Ten recs: Where are they?

Tonight I saw a post advertising a recs list that supposedly contained "the best DW fiction there is" so I had a look, to find that the recs were all Ninth and Tenth Doctor. More specifically, almost all for Nine/Rose and Ten/Rose. Apparently, at least according to this particular list, there IS no quality fanfic about Five, or Eight, or Two, or

In the sidebar to this community are a few masterlists--not recs per se, but lists of fic that pretty much are not Nine/Rose or Ten/Rose (though I think a lot of them do contain Jack or Mickey or whoever).

Thanks, but I know about those. I'm looking for something that is specifically recommendations rather than just non-Nine/Rose or Ten/Rose stuff in general.

Are you looking specifically for pairings stuff? taraljc has in her memories recs she's made, and I can't remember off the top of my head how Nine-Ten-era heavy they are, but there should be other Doctors listed as well.

Gen is more than fine with me. Pairings, threesomes, anything.

I just looked through taraljc's memories and the entries I checked are extremely Nine & Ten heavy so unfortunately, that doesn't look a source I can really use. I do like Nine and Ten, and if/when I ever do my own recs list I'll have a lot of fic about them on it, but right now I'm much more into the other Doctors who don't receive nearly as much attention.

I know I do occasional recs on del.icio.us, and there's a dwrecs tag here. You will find Nine and Ten and Rose stuff, but people tag all sorts of things so hopefully there will some stuff you haven't seen?

Good to know I wasn't the only one irritated by that post. It came at the wrong time after a bad day, but still.

I had a look around del.icio.us and it seems promising. I registered and added one rec myself to see how it goes, will probably add more and also check other people's. I already saw recs for some Romana fic I didn't know about. :)

BTW, your icon is hilarious. I'd probably laugh for a week if someone wrote Three/Rose or Seven/Rose fic, in particular.

Yeah, del.icio.us isn't a proper recs list because there's no write-up of why it should be read, but it does collect an odd and interesting assortment of stuff, so it's useful to look over once in a while. I try to remember to add my favourite fics there after I read them.

Other!Doctor/Rose is one of my favourite things, hee. I haven't seen any Three/Rose or Seven/Rose yet, though, at least not in a shippy sense. After I get more exposure to those Doctors, I just might do it... ;)

Thanks, but I've already read most of those, would really love a specific recs list (preferably with a line or two explaining why the story should be read). I've mostly just been searching for myself and have become a bit tired of that. I thought surely someone somewhere must do recs other than for Nine or Ten.

I would love a reclist like that. I'm sure people have suggested some, and anything I have to rec you've probably already seen. But here are some of my favorites:

Thanks, I've only read two of those. Most of the others (except I think Viridian5's story) are on my obscenely long "to be read" list but I'll bump them up it on your recommendation. I've put together a lot of lists of stories and have tons saved in my memories but I haven't actually read most of them yet--I usually just take a quick skim and put them aside to get to at a later time, and now there are so many I haven't come close to catching up. Like I stumbled across the Fitz/Harry story during one of my searches but didn't read it right away, just marvelled at its existence and did a quick link. It's short enough; I'll put it at the top of my reading list.

When I get more organized, I think I'll have to put together a multi-era recommendations list.

I think you should definitely post your multi-era rec list. And we can perhaps add to it as we go along? It'd certainly be nice to have several eras recced. I know I'm having the hardest time finding any Second Doctor fics that are worth reading. :/
