Possession by Sarah McLachlan is totally a Master/Doctor song for me. All incarnations. Because it's really fucked up and pretty to listen to and frames sexual assault in the language of romance. It's about being a stalker, pretty much. Since the Master and the Doctor sort of mutually stalk each other, it works. When I have a better computer with more free space, I am totally going to try to vid it.

Samson by Regina Spektor never fails to remind me of TimeWar!Eight and Romana III. (In my head, she's regenerated at some point, but she's still Romana!)

It's a sad, sad, sad song about failure and limitations and wishing you could just pack it all in and run away and not give a damn anymore. But you can't, and he can't, so you both do what needs to be done, no matter the cost.

This is a dangerous question for me, because I have songs for everything. Including ships I don't necessarily love.

The Doctor's song, for me, as the Doctor and alone is TIme Stand Still, by Rush. The whole thing just works, and not just because of the mention of Time. It's mostly, I think, because it mentions the past and wanting to slow down and pause things, and regret, but even so : "I'm not looking back, I want to look around me now." That's the Doctor, for me.

Doctor/Rose - which is not at all my ship, honestly - is All I Need Is A Miracle, by Mike and the Mechanics. First because it contains the lines "I treated you like a child, I'm gonna miss you for the rest of my life." And secondarily because with the Miss you for the rest of my life, the corresponding line about love is "I'm going to love you for the rest of your life." The appropriateness makes me happy. Plus the narrator voice in the thing is just the Doctor (I admit you were never right, I admit I was never wrong. I could never make up my mind, I made it ( ... )

Interesting! From when I was a kid in the 80s I always thought of the Doctor when I heard 'All I Need Is A Miracle' by Mike and the Mechanics. Probably the line "I made it up as I went along" was the clincher, cos that's so him. XD

YES! It really, really, is. Actually, while I call it Doctor/Rose here - it's Doctor+Companion for me. It's not even romantic. It just is.

...I like Mike and the Mechanics more than I should be willing to admit.

'Someday out of the blue' by Elton John, for one of my fav pairings, 4/Sarah.

'I hate everything about you' by Three Days Grace, for Doctor/Master pairings.

I can't think of one for 4/Harry, damn.
