Won't be able to watch along for another 24 hours, but I am really hoping this is going to be a Magic School Bus style Fantastic Voyage into a Dalek.

Because how funny/ terrifying would that be?

Wheee! It loaded early and I spent the entire episode laughing outrageously, because I didn't actually expect it to be Fantastic Voyage into a Dalek!

The direction and effects were very well done, the story was cohesive, and I really enjoyed Clara and Danny. Was a bit let down by where the story went with the Doctor and the Daleks. All of the pre-reviews said this would be treading new ground, but... "good" Daleks isn't exactly new ground, and a lot of this was Nine's episode re-visited. I feel like the re-watch value will be very low.

But it tried to be a good episode AND it made me laugh and smile throughout. So Wheee!

Yeah, it actually was Fantastic Voyage into a Dalek! And even explicitly referenced Fantastic Voyage (although I am personally more familiar with the 80s sorta-remake Inner Space starring Dennis Quaid and that other bloke)! ;D ( ... )

The streaming was bad but the parts I saw I loved! I love the interaction between The Doctor and Clara. This banter, this knowing each other and then again not knowing each other.

I especially liked the cuts as the new teacher guy wishes he's said something else to Clara.

Yes, Capaldi and Coleman are great together. I also really liked Clara's new "boyfriend" - I hope we see a lot more of him.

I'm skipping it because I'm sick of Daleks.

I've sort of come to the school of thought that Daleks can't really be overused (although NuWho certainly tries!), only used badly. And I think they were used well in this instance. Possibly nothing we haven't seen touched on before, but still better than the majority of new series (and let's be honest, some old series) Dalek stories.

THIS was a vastly better episode - properly coherent and consistent storytelling...

But is that silly woman "Missy" going to randomly turn up in EVERY episode when someone dies, welcoming them to Heaven? 'cos that's gonna get old VERY fast. (Reminds me, too, of the random appearances of Rose all through S4 - which seriously pissed me off!)

I suspect Missy will turn up each time, but

given that we later see her with Cybermen, I'm starting to the wonder if the 'heaven' to which people who have died at the Doctor's hands are being brought will end with them encased in a Cyber-shell. That could make life very interesting if/when they come up against the Doctor later, in a similar way to when Rose and Pete saw Cyberman-Jackie in Pete's World.

I've already been spoiled for that one without even choosing to be since the internet kindly rammed that in my face...

*lol* It does do that, doesn't it? I'm just glad I wasn't the person to do it for you.

Hmm, the Dr must have had a bad experience with UNIT dating - haven't we all?

I thought the FX was a bit old skool;p

I got on my high horse over the slap - leave that sort of thing to the baddies.

Peter Capaldi was v.good again. He may be the "nasty" Dr but I really like him and it's understandable why he walks off with out saying goodbye, if not good etiquette.

The end bit where Clara tells him whether or not he was a good man wasn't profound as I wanted it to be. I'd have liked some dialogue I wouldn't have thought of, not being a genius. I could've have given him the answer when he asked and not waited until the end to cook it up!

Clara scooted off quick for her date didn't she?

Yeah, I hope future eps don't all finish with dead characters ending up with Missy. Irritated by her already!

I do actually now want to read fic where Twelve and the Brigadier meet and thrash out the rights and wrongs of soldiering. I suspect we might get something like this between the Doctor and the (very likeable) new teacher Danny before the series is over.

Old skool rules. ;D

The slap did seem uncalled for, tbh.

Capaldi is great and I like the new Doctor's high-handed manner. I think whatever he may think, he is a good man, but not necessarily a nice one, and that's a refreshing thing for NuWho. Although so far I think he's still more like Eleven in some ways than either of them might admit to - without the companion-friendly camouflage, perhaps. ;)

Yeah, it was a point well-made but a bit obvious to anybody who has been watching Who, like, at all, ever...

Well, he is a very nicely turned out young chap... ;D

I think they're probably going to, you know. But agreed! Still, I can't help myself but be intrigued as to what the eventual "reveal" is going to be.

I agree we'll see a dialogue between the Dr and Danny before the series is out. I'd like to see a fic where Clara slaps Leela and then decides to find a better way to deal with people. Leela would kick her out of the dalek and into outer space!

Capaldi's one of my faves already, although I don't like to make snap judgements. You should write slogans for Twelve:) : He's not nice, but he's good! I think good is tied in people's minds with being nice e.g. if you don't remember the name of people's kids, shower them with cupcakes and aren't all smiley you might as well call Hell and ask if there is any vacancies available.

If only Vastra had lifted the veil and said to the shallow element Clara; "I predict you will meet a fit man soon," instead;)

I'm predicting Missy will get her undead army to go for the Dr and the Dr to text all the people he's saved to fight them off - it's been done before so it must be something I can't think up!
