Thanks for your interest in becoming an editor for our newsletters who_daily & torchwood_three. Before scrolling to the bottom of this post to submit your name, please take the time to read a little about our newsletters and how our editors work together.
who_daily and torchwood_three are once again recruiting for the best of the best. We are looking for regular, part-time and back-up editors for who_daily and torchwood_three. Because real life can, shockingly, intrude on our fannish interests, we have several positions opening up. As well, we operate with a pool of back-up editors to help out when our regular editors have a conflict or need to take some time off from the position. These back-up editors help us keep our commitment to putting out a consistent, daily fandom newsletter. If you are willing to accept the responsibility, being a newsletter editor can be a very rewarding experience. Being a newsletter editor helps to promote the fandom we all love. It helps others to find the stories, icons and vids more easily.
Requirements: The most important requirement to being an editor is commitment. If you commit to being a regular, weekly editor you are responsible for collecting links and posting the newsletter on your designated day.
Part-time editors are used when a regular editor needs to take a temporary leave of absence. The position could last several weeks or several months.
Back-up editors are the newsletter superheros. We ask that they check in frequently to the newsletter managing community satellite_five for schedule changes and requests for assistance. Typically an editor will request back-up for a future date, however, there are times when an emergency will require an editor to request back-up on the day a post needs to be made. We understand that not everyone will be able to volunteer in every instance, but if you are someone who spends a lot of time on the internet or has some flexibility in your day, this could be the perfect position for you. Back-up editors are considered a full part of the team and will be asked to contribute to policy discussions and to the general welfare of the newsletters.
We certainly don't overestimate our importance in fandom but there are quite a few people who have the newsletters friended and use them to keep track of what's happening outside their friends lists and communities. We take our jobs seriously and, if you are selected to join the newsletter team, we ask that you take the commitment seriously as well.
Assignments: While each newsletter has its own back-up team, there are times when editors have crossed newsletters to assist when needed. This speaks volumes as to the commitment and integrity of our staff. There may be a time when either of the two newsletters - who_daily & torchwood_three - require emergency assistance. Back-up editors will be assigned to the newsletter of their request. However, since the method of creating the newsletter is the same across the board, candidates who are willing to cross newsletters, in the rare occurrence there is a staffing crisis, will be given preference over candidates who are only willing to work on one newsletter.
