Whit's Knee - an update

May 19, 2010 09:28

I had my appointment with the orthopedic surgeon yesterday. A very sweet older gentlemen with a real bow tie and suspenders named Dr Pugh. His PA came and looked me first and moved my leg in ways no one else would dare try. For the record, it is NOT supposed to bend that way. Once he came in and she showed up the hyper-mobility of my both laterally ( Read more... )

Yes - please let me know if you will be attending Friday's festivities - I'd like to chip in and could hand off a donation then.

I'm still trying to figure that out. I'm hoping to. We'll see what tomorrow's doc says.

As soon as you know how much it's going to cost, let people know. Then the fundraiser planning can begin.

I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I know how frustrating it is to be injured when you're an active person who is used their body being able to do the things it wants to do.

I am here if you need to vent.

This. All of it.

Surgery is not cheap (as I know all too well), but it sounds like you've found a surgeon whose office will work with you. That's a really good start.

Thanks hun.

Yeah, it is a good start. And tomorrow I've got a second opinion.
We'll see where this twists the plot.

Thanks, hun.
Yeah, I think Jim is already getting into fund raising mode.
I'll definitely need all the help I can get.

I bet some venting is in my future.

Oh Jesus, Whit. :( I am so sorry. I have not been on-line a lot lately....please tell me there is already a fund raiser in the works....and also..I will tell you what people tell me all the time...a bill is just a piece of paper. Your health is more important than a piece of paper. So, my hope is that they can get you in and bill you later...and if not we'll figure something out.

This really is the suck, and I am sorry. I've never heard of Dr. Pugh, I worked with Dave Atkins at St. Lukes and he is an amazing knee guy - particularly great with athletes....so, maybe comparison shopping might help?

Regardless....I am so fucking sorry. How unfair.

If there is a fund raiser - and really, there needs to be - I will be more than happy to think of something to donate....maybe we can do something similar to the Hella Pretty benefit - an actual benefit people can attend and an on-line auction?

Shit. Sending you mad kisses and love. xoxoxoxoxoxo

Hey hun,

Thanks for the note.
Yeah, I'm trying not to think of this in terms of $$$ when it comes to the health decisions themselves. I want as much of my knee back as I can muster.
I'll look into Dr Atkins. I'm doing lots of research right now. I have an appointment for a 2nd opinion tomorrow. I wrote about it in my more recent post. We'll see where that takes me.

I get the impression that fundraiser stuff is in the works. I'll let you know where that lands.

Love you bunches.
