I rather liked toying with this concept that as powerful as Russia is, as large he is, as enduring he has been, he is still very powerless. It's a theme that can be discussed with practically all the nations but Russia (and China) seem to exemplify it particularly during the 1900s, particularly considering a long history. Rather tragic, really, but that's what makes for "good" literature.
