1) When I read the first paragraph, I'm hooked. Um, I've a pretty short attention span, so I'm glad that you've written this as a one-shot.
2) Argh, I don't know why, but I always imagine that Korea is older than Japan. I know that in Hetalia canon, China is older than Japan, and Japan is older than Korea, but I just can't accept this. (Yay! You seem to share my view!)
3) I visited Korea once, and the tour guide said that China supported Silla and Japan supported Paekche, but Goguryeo didn't receive foreign support. Your A/N confirms what she has said. :)

Well... the trouble is, it just might not end up as a one-shot! I couldn't bring myself to go beyond the ending because that's what seemed right... but at the cost of leaving the story, well, hanging.

As an entity, Korea's older. But as a nation-tan, the Hetalia Korea is the younger brother, to my chagrin. It's a bothersome little problem.

The system of alliances was a bit more complicated than that because the Three Kingdoms also had alliances with one another (which they broke and reformed at will, being the real dysfunctional family that they were...).

Thank you.

But the lines of something beautiful are still there, something elegant and noble and strong and timelessly youthful.

you had me at that, ohh god ♥

Paekche’s insubstantial hand touches his hair, cold as winters in the North, as the breath of the very tops of mountains.

your imagery is gorgeous

You are the branches, born of our substance but bearing your own fruit, your own branches.

THIS. THIS SO HARD.

In spite of it all, he is smiling. He smiles wider than Paekche, warm but not inscrutable. Welcoming, simple, sweet. His expression smiles back at him and their hands touch.

um. you're so amazing, idek omgomgomg /dies I'M SO INCOHERENT COMPARED TO THE LOVELY THINGS YOU SAID

all in all, it was so seamlessly written; I love your characterizations of the three kingdoms - even if only one technically made an appearance! and oh, korea. my poor country, you. ♥

you're so awesome. :D

I admit to taking a lot of inspiration from Korean poetry, which is rather hard to describe, and recycled a lot of the images and sayings, particularly the bit about the branches on a tree.

Well, Paekche's had a couple of hundred years to mellow out (kind of like Rome). He was nowhere near as understanding and kind as when he was alive, except he did have a soft spot for little Goryeo and did his best to be an actual father (Goguryeo is also Goryeo's father but didn't play as much of a role in actually raising him).

Ah- thank you very much! I'm glad you enjoyed it. ^_^
