Hi Maeglian! I do hope the year 2009 holds much happiness and health for you!
Thank you for your kind words on the drawing. I worked so long on that one, I really can't tell anymore how it looks to others... so it's good to hear that I apparently succeeded. I have to put it away for some time and look afresh at it later. For now, I need a little break from Johnny. *g*

(Argh, I guess you are only too right with your remark regarding the actress. Wasn't it Julia Roberts who dared once to wear a sleeveless dress without having shaved her armpits? Uuuuh, that was *very* frowned at!!)

Happy New Year, Pearl! :-)
(And btw, your christmas card was such a wonderful surprise! You're having a nice shiny talent there as well, my love! Thanks so much!)

Whiteling, you've done it again!

I was was in no doubt as to who that was before scrolling down to the main picture. The eyes are very expressive. I'm also in awe at the amount of detail that you have put into the picture, particularly the hair and cap! Excellent!

Thanks so much, Maewyn!
Ah, the details... they were super time-consuming. I decided on working on a bigger paper size than usual this time since I wanted to have space for all the neat details. To draw the cap took approx. as much time as if I would have actually knitted it! :-D The hair, well, hair is mostly a test for your patience, so that wasn't news to me. The most time took the skin colours though. I don't know how many thin layers I put on top of each other. Plus, I could only work at daylight as I really could not see what I was doing with artificial light. In light of all this it's no wonder it took me about 5 weeks to finish it!

That's fantastic, Whiteling! I love the pose you chose, the expressiveness and liveliness of the face and eyes, the wonderful highlights on the skin of the face and in the strands of hair. This is so well-done!

Happy New Years!

Happy New Year, Mechtild!
Thank you very much!! Pitty that you can't see the drawing in person. It's so much more lively than the digitalised picture above. Oh well. Better than nothing, after all, I guess. :-)

I wish I could see it in person, too. Scans and photos never, ever do the real works justice. Still, I think it's a picture that draws the viewer in. It's excellent. I saved it to my "Whiteling" file. :)
