I'm still around! (plus a bit of shameless self-promotion)

Hi gang,
I thought I let you know that I still exist. :-) I'm just super uneloquent these days... --- but finally I have a new computer! The old Linux dinosaur I used for the last 4 or 5 months was unbearably slow and completely unsuitable for picture editing and posting. I realised how much of a picture person I am. Being not able to fiddle with my ( Read more... )

Congratulations! I went over, determined to comment, and thus signed up (it seems to be the only way) at Deviant Art (why do they call themselves that, do you know? it doesn't look particularly deviant to me). Your gallery looks great, Whiteling!

Aww, thanks a lot, Mechtild, for even bothering to register in order to leave a comment (yes, you have to, there's no other way)! I looked up their FAQs but could not find anything about where the name derives from. You are right, there's nothing very "deviant" in particular. Seems to be simply their jargon. "Submissions" are called "Deviations", for example. The site is immensely huge and it took me 10 weeks to finally take the plunge and actually post, with the friendly support of a friend who posts there for some time now and could answer my clueless questions. :-)

Yeah, it looks like a challenging place to get around in! I've never browsed there, only followed links. A person on my f-list posts her stuff there, too, if I recall. Her artist name is Darkling Woods. She does fairies and fantasy stuff, children's illustrations, things like that. Some of it is very nice. Well, all of it is very nice, but not all of it appeals to me. That would be more accurate. :)

Yeah, DeviantART ist a navigation nightmare, at least initially. I think, I'm slowly getting the hang of it.

I've seen artwork of Darkling Woods on your f-list, Mechtild, and I like her style and subjects. Very charming.
Well, all of it is very nice, but not all of it appeals to me.
Now, that's true for most artist's works, isn't it?

Oh, thank you very much, Pearl! :-)

I consider to draw some male Vala once in a while, but find myself not very much inspired then... dunno why. It's all for the ladies for me too. They are of such a delicate sublimity and yet so familiar to one's heart ans soul. Trying to give them a shape is a wonderful and enriching experience. :-)

(And it's always good to see YOU, by the way! ;-))

Congratulations on your new computer! Have fun with your Photoshop!

It's great to see all your artwork in the gallery. This is a great opportunity for you to present your artwork to a much wider audience. You really are an exceptional artist!

Thanks so much, Maewyn, for the compliment! :-)
I felt it was high time to put up an own gallery for all my works. For years I've been having some Frodos here, and some Johnnys there, and so on, it was difficult to overlook the whole thing. Now with the new computer I can upload files in high resolution which makes for a great display. I'm quite happy with that.
I've digged up some old portfolios and am curious what else I might find in them.

Thank you for the link Lass. I'll take a look.

Sorry I'm late in commenting.

I love your new Shire-look you have for your LJ.
