Orca updated today with two new sexy Howl/Sophie pics, one movie-verse, one book-verse. Definitely worth checking out (hint: the movie-verse one is on the CLAP page

Your writing is amazing - I hang on your every word - and I am seriously finding it very difficult to read the book (or think about the book, or talk about the book) without my mind going 'Ah, but you see, Howl said THIS, or was thinking THAT, so it all makes sense when he says THIS'
It's the same with the film now, too - I was watching it the other day and noticing how Sophie's not actually an OLD old woman for very long - a lot of the time she looks middle aged, stands upright without a hunch at all etc. - and my brain said 'ah, but that's because all that's left is the glamour! Howl took the bulk of the curse off AGES ago!'
You've got everyone so very well in-character that it's really believable. I've recommended your fic to a fair number of my friends as an accompaniment to the book. There's fame for you! =^_^=
D'you mind If I 'friend' you? (I always feel daft asking that, like 'be my friend, please!' =O_o=)

I'm glad my explanations make sense to you. =)

*laugh* That might be true if the movie really followed the book more. I think Miyazaki's explanation was that her physical age changed with her concept of herself. Which is an interesting device.

I'm glad you think so; I do worry about that.

Yeah, that's what I've heard, too - there's a rather interesting mini-essay about the film and what Miyazaki was aiming to do with it in a book about Japanese subculture that I recently bought, although I think it reads into it a little too much. I was glad, in a way, that the film deviated quite so much from the book (rather than it being mostly faithful, but just a little off - I think that could have been FAR more frustrating ...)

It's a tough thing to be able to do - I find it comes and it goes, too. Some days it's no problem to get into a character's head, other days, not a chance! But you do it well.
Wow. I'm honoured. (Not sure DWJ would feel the same, but... XD)
*snickers* she need never know ... XD
^^ It is an odd turn of netiquette, and it's not as if permission is really

Essays tend to. What's the book? I'm curious to see.

I think you're right. It's easier to accept as a separate but also good work this way.

It's usually not a problem for me, but keeping it consistent and sticking to something like DWJ's style as much as possible is harder.
Yeah, it is a bit odd, but I feel it's kind of a nice thing to do - it always weirds me out when somebody just randomly 'friends' me. S'like 'Who are you and how do you know my name?!'Yes, there is that brief
