[ Kakashi doesn't see why they can't just stay in bed all day. There's no reason to have to get up before noon, after all. But he sighs softly, lips grazing Iruka's pulse, before he gently pulls away, directing a lazy, half-lidded eye at his lover. His fingers lightly brush against his hip. ]
You know, there's this myth. It's called sleeping in. Ever heard of it?
[ His tone is lightly teasing, a faint smile threatening one corner of his mouth. ]
[The smile is wide, the one that crinkles the corners of his eyes. It takes just milliseconds for the cold to seep in a bit and suddenly, this myth starts to make a lot of sense. He reaches for the hand on his hip and squeezes.]
[ Kakashi slides back in to close the space between them. There's just this: a smile that goes as wide as the sky and skin like summer. He could never get tired of that smile. How addictive and infectious it can be. ]
I dreamed that we were on a beach.
[ He murmurs softly as his fingers trace arabesques across Iruka's skin. ]
[He presses close, arm draping over lines and scars. Kakashi is like snow but he is as warm as summer itself when this close. It is so easy to fall asleep like this, to close his eyes and not worry about a thing, just under Kakashi's touch and with the sound of his breathing and heartbeat.]
We were watching the waves wash away our footprints.
[ Kakashi's fingers trace over Iruka's hip, grazing over his thigh lazily. He thinks of their footprints, and the surf taking away the imprints of them standing together. Sweeping the memory away, into the sea, which will hold it forever. So they are together even when they are apart.
