I purred all the way through the first part, and giggled at Cas trying not to smile because Dean's ego doesn't need to be bigger. I love the way they flirt with each other; it's hot even when it's only warm.

Then I started the flashback part and squeaked when I realized what this was going to be. Dean's side of the reunion was so sweet and innocent (up until him realizing why Cas was there, anyway) that I've been dying to know what Cas thought. And oh, I knew it was going to be darker because Cas is darker in this 'verse, but I didn't know how.

It's like the memory of Dean was a light Cas held onto, not to see by, but to illuminate the edges of things. Something comforting in the dark. But seeing Dean again makes the light brighter and now it highlights all the empty places and they start to ache like phantom limbs.

A dream looked at me. It looked into my eyes and saw all of me, everything that I wish was still there.

Oh, Cas.

Yay I made you squeak! :)
I did consider going into the actual first meeting at more length, but we already know what happened, and now with the scenes before and after we know quite a bit about how castiel felt about what happened, so it seemed like it would be belabouring the point.

Beautiful description of a beautiful scene.

I like, "... it's hot even when it's only warm." In fact, throughout this series the line between warm and hot is blurred, to the point where "only warm" stops making sense. Warmth can blaze like fire, apparently, and overwhelm like a wave.

They both need a bit of warmth in their lives, poor boys. :)
