The level of research you must've done for this chapter and your ability to change writing styles to fit that of Casanova's simply astounds me. The extra Italian is even better. Perfect, I say. Perfect.
It was a lot of fun. :) particularly since the research mostly involves reading casanova's writing, because the picture he builds of his world and of the way he sees his world is so vivid. I spent a little time reading some books published in northern Italy around that time to get a feel for language and current cultural debates, and a few from England and elsewhere to get a feel for what other peep were saying or thinking about angels (not that that is ever a guide to what Casanova thinks on a given subject, because he always makes up his own mind to an astonishing degree, but it was a guide to the kinds of opinions out there), but beyond that it was mostly just a bit of fact-checking.
Ad also google maps satellite view of the roof of the doge's palace. :) which, barring a few extra safety features (I'm sure c would have been very glad of those ladders and safety rails!) is pretty much the same a now as then.
