Jayne Smith 09: A Fonder Heart
Welcome back to Jayne Smith's household!
Jayne and her husband, Benjamin Long, have just welcomed baby Alistair into the family.
Fishing is Ben's quiet place. With a newborn at home, he needs that quiet more than ever. He starts the day pond-side with his fishing buddies (they're an odd-looking bunch and I love to see them together). Ben earns a bronze badge, but his thoughts aren't far from Alistair: he rolls the want to study parenting.
Now, Jayne is a Family Sim, so I assume she'll want to stay at home with Alistair -- but she surprizes me. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, so Jayne loves her baby even more by going back to summer music camp. To make up for lost time on mat leave, she even wants a promotion!

I hire a nanny. Nothing unusual about that, but for me, entrusting my Sim's precious baby to an NPC is way outside my comfort zone. I remember a time when nannies spent the day watching T.V., lounging in the hot tub, and walking around in their underwear. Things may have changed with later expansion packs, but I'm not holding my breath.
Kendall Lawson is a revelation. I'm so pleased when she cuddles Alistair before putting him down for his nap. When he needs his diaper changed, Kendall is on the spot and does it right away. I have no reservations about leaving Alistair in her capable hands.

Thanks to Kendall, Jayne gets her promotion! She's now a Battle of the Bands Judge. I want to tip Kendall handsomely, but she slips away during Jayne's "Mummy's home!" routine.
Kendall's tender care ensures a happy reunion between mother and child. No deprivation or maladjustment, here! They become best friends when Jayne gets home.
Ben becomes ill when he gets home.
As Family Sim, Jayne knows the recipe for Grandma's Comfort Soup. Jayne needs to raise her comfort metre, so it's a good choice for dinner.
(I don't use these aspiration benefits often enough!)

One bite restores Jayne's comfort, and Ben eagerly slurps down his "medicine."
The soup cures Ben, but eating it keeps him out of bed too long. At least it's a "comfortable" dish to sleep in!
