I love the fact Doctor Who makes it to the main BBC news. And I love the fact that the presenter is so obviously a fan - the huge grin on his face after the report? Heh!
Hee. Well, Doctor Who is possibly Britain's no. 1 quality global export. Country needs something to be proud of, dammit!
Does it count as spoilery to talk about something that's been on the BBC News? As they've announced it publically, they clearly don't believe that knowing about it spoils anything.
Being suitably cagey though, potentially a good choice judging by the last ep, though we know nothing about the character of course.
I'm being especially cagey in my posts (but not my comments - hence me using the icons in here and not on the post itself) because I know of quite a few Americans and Australians on my flist who watch the show as it airs there. I would say though that after this weekend, when it's clear what Rose's fate is, it stops being a spoiler that there will be a new companion. Of course there has been a bit of backlash towards other people on my flist for mentioning it - but as was said yesterday on a flocked post by someone else - it's only now that sci fi fans in the US are starting to se what it's like to be anywhere else in the world. *g*
About the only other times I can remember us being ahead of the US is either the first season of BSG, and the last episodes of some seasons of Babylon 5.
I know two seasons ago we got SG1 ahead of them as well, not sure about the last season (I got bored with it halfway through and gave up). But seriously, how much fun is it to go into these shows completely fresh like this? Even with the leaks and the speculation, it's so much... fresher than *knowing* something happens because someone in Texas* let it slip...
* or any other place in the USA. *g*
*uses another spoilery icon because I'm feeling Bolshie this evening for some reason*
