I didn't have a cam for the first two shots, so I used a webcam.

I started out with a primed canvas, and a reference drawing I threw together to get the values right.

The second layer

This was toned with a wash of Gamblin colors Yellow Ochre, as well as their equivalent of Red Ochre and Ivory Black.

It looks olive.

Now to let it thoroughly dry for a month and a half.

And then, it was outlined in brown ink

The graphite I used to transfer the outline would be destroyed by the paint layers, so the outline was gone over in brown ink.

The painting itself begins

The cartoon, as a line drawing, was transferred onto a canvas that had been gesso'd by me again, with marble dust mixed into the gesso. The canvas has the same texture as an eggshell.

It's a painting of the crucifixion.

Here's the head (detail) - I'm going roughly with the model, but am making some changes (lighting, the degree to which his eyes are open, etc)
