Ummm, clearly Mother Nature did NOT get the memo that it is currently the beginning of January, not the beginning of May

renew it! our library at any rate lets us renew it even if its overdue as long as no one else wants it

I've already renewed it twice and that's the limit for renewals. I'm just going to finish it hopefully over the next few days and then return it and pay the late fee. Maybe the fact the fee is building up will motivate me to finish it.
