I saw some absolutely gorgeous natural stone slabs and tile...which are mostly out of our price range or beyond the scope of our small starter-home bathroom. Still, very pretty! We asked questions of several flooring/tile people, and one took the time to educate us on some of the issues we may face when we tear out the tub and tile. Once he realized we might need subfloor work (beyond his scope) he gave us the name of an "extremely honest" contractor who could do the job. While he was there as a salesman, he clearly had deeper than surface knowledge of projects like ours.
One useless and wasteful thing (to us) that we saw at the show was a whirlpool tub for a pet. Cost: $3,000. Uh, no!
