And boy did being back at circus work kick my ass. I love it-I love it-I love it-but if I’m going to keep doing circus and writing, I need to change my behavior patterns to allow room for both. I’m between gigs again, and I’m in a town with a dear writer friend who wants to do writing dates several times a week, so I’m ready to hit the ground

You are me if I joined the circus and didn't have kids, and I am you if you decided to have a family instead of being awesome.
I read your entries and feel like in a different life, I could have written them.

I'm at a wedding in Orlando on Saturday, how's Sunday? Or any time next week?
I feel the same way about your writing, and I totally have success envy for your publishing :)

I do have a question about that, though, because it says they don't accept reprints, but posting on one's blog is generally considered giving up your first time print rights. It didn't seem to be a problem, since they've accepted it. But I never submit my stuff that's been posted on my blog for "reprint" reason. Did you tell Crossed Genres about the posting, or did you just remove the story from your blog?

My thought is this - LJ is not super-searchable and not that widely read. When I submit something, I turn it to Private on this blog. If I ever end up with a million hits, then I'll be more careful about what I post, but for right now, I don't think it's an ethical conflict, especially since I publicize any actual acceptances to my own readers.

I also know another poet, who will post poetry on her blog, but then deletes or locks it after a certain period of time. I don't remember whether it's after a week or a month, but I guess that's another way to go, too.

It's my favorite favorite spoken word piece to do, and I love love love that hot black guys come up and ask for my number afterwards :)
Now I have to write another piece specifically for spoken word!

STILL suffering from lactose intolerance? What about yogurt? That's supposed to be one of the ways to add the right bacteria back in (though they do sell live acidopholus supplements in vitamin sections, which might do just as well).

I'm so scared to eat anything dairy right now - I tried some aged cheese and it was OK, but then I had whip cream on soy cocoa this morning and it was terrible.
Do you know much about probiotics? I looked for some but there were so many kinds and I was too intimidated to pick one. Maybe I should just do live culture yogurt?

The main one, which you can buy via capsules for $6 to $20, is lactobacillus acidophilis. That's a big part of what's IN live yogurt, but taking the capsules will side-step any issues with yogurt that your body might have in the meantime. Just make sure to buy the "live culture" type.
Or if you're brave, try the live culture yogurt or kefir. I guess you could try one helping and see what your system thinks of it. Yogurt is a tricky area-- often, it's either the one thing people CAN eat when they have lactose intolerance, or the one thing they CAN'T.

A) You are a hardcore bad-ass.
B) That was the most accurate description of hitting send ever created. It's going on the quote wall in our house. :) Figured I'd give you a heads up!

I do a different "hit send" tagline every week, if you ever hit the "Friday wrap-up" tag :)
Can't wait to work with you again, btw - I'm thrilled you're doing protrack but sorry that it ties you up for another year!
