I don't know if you're referring to the 2nd season or the first, but in my opinion, some characters lost their basic credibility and Logan is one of them (Duncan is another).
He's not real, and the creators haven't made up their mind if deep inside he's a good guy or an abtuse one (the part when he's dating what's-her-face because of her father, and especially how it ends points to the first option, several others point to the other)
2nd season, which I know a lot of people didn't like, but I totally did. It has some problems, sure - like having every bit of the plot be about the arch case, and leaving no room at all for just, you know, life plot.
Duncan never really interested me at all, I was bored with him from day one. And even though I can see what you mean when you say that Logan is "not real", I actually can see him being both a mean, obnoxious, spoiled, obtuse teenager - and a heartbroken sad guy, capable of love and compassion. When life is shitty to him he's being shitty right back, and gets in trouble, and is never happy. I wouldn't want that in a boyfriend, but it makes for an interesting character (at least in theory, I won't argue about the actual execution) - which is more than you can say about Duncan...
Still two episodes more to go... let's see what I;ll make of the ending.
2. Why is there so little to watch on TV? Why is nothing out there exciting, at all?
damn joss!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i actually watched a REALITY TV SHOW last night. im very much against reality tv. very much. even worse? it was a 'i used to be somebody' reality tv show! SUPERGROUP. because, well, I LOVE SEBASTIAN BACH and i always will. still. it would have been nice if there was some good tv show i could have watched instead... (i didnt care for the 2nd season of veronica mars...and its pretty much my favorite show. sigh...)
My advice? Start watching British TV. They make the best dramas. And the best comedies. And you know what? THE BEST REALITY SHOWS. THose are never about the trash and sleaze, it's about the human nature and shit. Recommended!
i do enjoy a few british shows...but they are on american bbc and its hard to keep track of whats playing when! we have a service called 'on demand' and i can watch shows anytime i like, and i'll start watching...and once im hooked they STOP SHOWING THEM! they had 5 epis of THE ROBINSONS that i loved...and then NOTHING. they did the same with Coupling, Murder Prevention Unit and a few others. theyve got Sea of Souls up now, and im sure they'll yank it once i fall in love...
and i just plain dont like reality tv. i like my tv scripted and filled with fictional characters, thank you very much! :)

In general, I enjoyed the season, and as long as Logan and Veronica are together and Boring Duncan is away, I'm good.
(man, I gotta make a VM icon!)

Maybe fandom needs to start a bribe-Joss-back-to-tv fund.
