"Thank you, sugar daddy!" (or, and ode to Shelly)

Aug 23, 2005 02:50

I checked my emails. There was one from LiveJournal. I thought they were kicking me out of the club (is a boring one-track-minded journal a violation of LJ's rules or something?). But then I read it. And I gaped. I swear, for like a minute, I just gaped. Then I went dancing around the house.

evilshelly bought me a paid account for a year! Just like that! With no provocation (other than whining) on my part! It's not even my birthday, which is usually when Shelly is extra nice to me and all gift-giving.

She just knew I couldn't live another day with only 3 icon choices. She was right, btw. I was going from checking my emails straight to the train station to throw myself at the tracks. But Shelly saved the day! Hurray!

In honor of her sponsoring me for no good reason what so ever, I made her this thing (I made this first thing after I finished dancing. Yes, before I went to upload 12 more icons):

This will be displayed on my info page (where I don't ever display things, so, like, what an honor).

1. We met each other about six (!) years ago, on a Spike-related (!!) yahoo-group.

2. In all the years of knowing her and loving her, telling her many things about myself, and she likewise about herself - I have never seen a picture of her, nor she of me (I've seen one of her pretty girl, though). We never spoke on the phone (though I have her number ;)

3. When there was no Buffy on my TV, Shelly (who, then, barely even knew me), had copied her tapes and sent me regular shipments of the show. Then, Angel. Then, Firefly. She's my drug supplier.

4. During this long friendship Shelly sent me the best birthday gifts you could ever send a person you've never met: A Spike Stand-Up; The (scary, evil) book "Dark House" and Fray, Joss Whedon's amazing comic book (which I'm re-reading for the third time these days). We're talking very expensive, hard to deliver presents. Thoughtful, too.

And now this.

Really, Shell, I don't deserve you.
