Memo: Stargazing, Wednesday night

Jan 23, 2007 16:49

Okay. I've found a field reasonably free from light pollution, and word is to check out the constellation Aries tomorrow night, so I'm bringing the telescope out there then. Anyone else wants to join me and get a look can feel free to do so. Bring warm clothes, and, if you want, a blanket and whatever you might want for snacks.

EDIT: Oh, and of ( Read more... )

Well. Far be it from me to turn down an offer of delicious baked goods. Perhaps some flavor of cupcakes, so that people may partake without dealing with slicing up serving sizes in the dark? :^D?

That is a MUCH superior idea. Cupcakes I can do. How do you feel about icing and sprinkles and suchlike?

Yeah, I can't stay out super-late either. I'm figuring on being out in the field by 6:30pm or so; there won't be much, if any, light left for setting up the 'scope, but there's only so early I can get out from dinner and chores and stuff, so flashlights it'll be. I, at least, will be there a few hours, but people are welcome to come and go as they feel like.

Awesome!

Oh, it occurs to me that I should edit the post with the location, so others can find it. :-) *does so*

What's supposed to happen?

The main stars for the constellation are supposed to be in a near-vertical line. Which... probably doesn't sound like much, but is a bit unusual. I'll bring stuff so I can show people the differences, and once I've shot a couple of pics of it through the 'scope, we can swing it around to look at other stuff, too.

Um, I'd like to go! I don't have telescope any more, though.

That's fine. I think we can manage to get everyone some time on the one I'm bringing. :-)
