Wow, really interesting choice to have her grow up Mennonite. I enjoyed this.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the story. It was inspired by the prompt, in part. And, many other things, too. Now that I've got a start, I hope to continue researching and write a longer story for her.

I really, really loved that. I hope you write more about Katie. Why did it never occur to me that the future would bring new temptations?

Thank you. I plan to write more about her growing up in an Amish family and about her adult life on the Enterprise. I like stories about cultures clashing.

I really like the idea that there will still be Mennonites in however-many-years from now--and that their notion of being plain will be the same. (Though now I'm wondering about splinter groups that will revise the notion of how to live in the world. Too much worldbuilding, don't mind me.)

And I like little Katie, wondering why things should be forbidden her.

Thsnk you.I think the Amish/Mennonites are ideally suited to survive in the chaotic aftermath of the nuclear WWIII that is canon world history in the trekverse, since their livestyle is not dependent on tech. They are already splintered from region to region, township to township, even church to church, over how much tech is allowed, how lenient to be during the "running around time." The Mennonites don't like the Amish, and vice-versa, the Amish subdivided over all kinds of life-style choices, from dress to whether or not propane-powered refrigerators are godly.

The world-building is the best part.
