Only they are from the Gamma Quadrant, so it may be difficult to work them into the AOS timeline.

I love deep space nine. Like you i only realy fell in love with it as an adult.
It's far darker, deeper and braver than I ever remember star trek being as a child.
And it's women do kick ass. I didn't recognise a few of these, because i only have seasons 1,3 and 7 on dvd. So i haven't been able to re watch any of the others...
I do love the episodes with Lwaxana though. I don't think many female characters could beat her.
I have a special place in my heart for both incarnations of Dax though. I think she's brilliant.
One thing i've been trying to work on is where and who dax would be in the Xi 'verse. But I'm finding it harder than i should :P

DS9 is so much more relevant to me as an adult than it was when I was a kid. I'm so happy I decided to finally make time for it. :)

During the reboot timeline, I believe Dax would be Emony, the gymnast. She knew McCoy!

She did know McCoy. According to the lives of Dax book they had a fair bit of fun in car I think... it's been a while since I read it.
I was just wondering whether ten or 15 years or so later she'd still be alive, or whether she'd have passed it onto Tobin. There's not a Cannon time line for Dax...

I have a vivid memory of my first time watching Ds9. I was about 8 i think, and it was premiering on BBC2. Dad and I sat down and watched it together, and my Mam cursed him for getting me into star trek like him.
We watched it beginning to end, and I still don't think I loved it or got it as much as Voyager. I was Obsessed with Voyager, I grew up with it. But watching that back, Voyager is simple. You see an episode once and that's pretty much it. When you re watch Ds9, theres always more to see, a character you'd not noticed before, or a detail you didn't think was important the first time around.

I grew up with Voyager, but I think I grew up to Ds9 ... if that makes sense.

Yes--its Emony. In the DS9 tribbles episode Dax mentions meeting McCoy when she was judging a gymnastics competition at his undergrad school, and she implies that they may have had a one-night-stand.

We could have a party! When were y'all thinking of starting? I could start tomorrow but I'm pretty sure that's just because I have studying I'm avoiding. Let me know! I need some friends to cheer with because I've tried a couple of times to rewatch and I find it hard to get through early season one.
