Natalie didn't feel at all ready for anything. But, Jim was coming over because she'd asked him to. It was time. She wouldn't ever be completely ready, so this was going to have to be good enough. She remembered pretty vividly what Sam had said, about not letting something like this drag on

Jim was pretty sure he knew what was going to happen when Natalie called him. It wasn't that hard to figure out and while he wasn't looking forward to it, he wasn't going to avoid it either.

So, he arrived a short time after she'd called him and waited at the door.

Security escorted him, of course. Couldn't get away from that.

But there would be no one following him in after Natalie opened the door to her apartment.

"Hey," she said. "Come in."

[kirked]

"I hate those security guards," he complained, stepping inside and shaking his head. "Hey. How's it going?"

"They're just doing their job," Natalie replied as she closed the door again. "And they seem particularly protective of me, because I've asked them to let you come up on your own, but they insist on not doing that. Sorry about that."
