Those Axis guys didn't seem too happy to see you.

I wasn't exactly thrilled to see them again, either.

I did a bit of research on Char Aznable. It was an interesting story, let me tell you.

Mistakes of my youth, mainly. Even though that was maybe two years ago.

And here I was, glad that someone hadn't heard of Char's exploits.

At least we figured out that they aren't gonna cooperate without losing any of our own guys.

Char.

Please. that name has nothing to do with who I am now. I hope that much would be obvious from my actions.

As for Axis...they're powerful, but I don't think anyone here wants to see the rise of yet another oppressive government with the Zabi name attached to it.

Well, I say here. Wong Lee might still clobber me next time I go back to the moon.

Yeah, we'll see.

I dunno who this Wong Lee is, but I do know that I'll smash anyone who thinks about pulling crap like those Zabis did.

To Wong Lee's credit, he doesn't want to rule the world. He just thinks he's a pragmatist who can play every side.

Haman, on the other hand, seems to have become as bad as Jamitov Hymem is, wanting only to control the world and thinking she's doing it a favor.

Your identity would've been good to know going into that, might've saved us some trouble.

Possibly. But that name, Char Aznable, is something I left behind long ago. It wasn't relevant until Haman decided on her own that I owed her something.

I know that feeling.

You had a run-in with an old friend of your own while we were there, didn't you? That strange...whatever it was that chased you out of the space station.

...You and Haman have some sort of past together, don't you, Lieutenant?

whats_a_char April 11 2010, 19:19:56 UTC
That's what you're worried about?

...heh, although it sounds like you figured out my larger secret beforehand.

[Filtered, just for the sake of things]

After Zeon fell, most of us left for the asteroid belt and regrouped in Axis. Among other duties, I wound up as Haman's bodyguard, and she became...a little dependent on me. I eventually came back to the Earth Sphere and joined the AEUG to gather information. When I never reported back, it seems she took it rather harshly.

Sounds to me like that's an understatement.

Why didn't you ever report back?

Reply

whats_a_char April 12 2010, 02:45:33 UTC
Because I'm no longer Axis's man. Zeon was just a country, and a badly-run one under the Zabis, at that. The AEUG and the GDF and fighting for something much bigger than the honor of a defeated dictatorship. Frankly I wish more of Zeon's old soldiers thought of it that way.
