Author's note: This is the sequel to
It's A Nice Day For A White Wedding, although as usual there are little references to other fictions that i've done. This is probably going to be a long haul as Brittany and Santana have a lot of stuff to work through, it'd be great if you stuck with it though :) Mainly from Brittany's point of view though there will be some Santana perspective thrown in!
Chapter One Chapter Two Chapter Three Chapter Four Chapter Five It’s been two weeks, and finally Brittany has managed to unpack everything and have the house looking lived in. It’s been a lot better, living with Camden without his parents breathing down her neck; she’s felt a lot freer, except there is still one thing that she is not free of, or rather one person. Santana.
Brittany hasn’t really been into the centre of L.A. or around near where Santana lives, but she’s still surprised she hasn’t caught a glimpse of her, but then it’s a big place and there are tons of people around, it would be too good if they just bumped into each other.
Only if they weren’t going to bump into each other what should Brittany do? Can she just rock up at Santana’s doorstep? Brittany spends the next few hours trying to come up with a plan and decides turning up on her doorstep is probably the best thing she can do, she has no means of contact and plus she can’t control how she’ll react to seeing her, or how Santana will be, so it’ll probably be safer to be away from the public eye. When to visit, though, was the next hurdle, it would have to be a weekend, as Santana works, either that or an evening, and these are both times that Camden is around and at home, not that Brittany is intentionally sneaking around or anything, it’s just if Camden found out she was visiting her best friend he’d want to go too and then it would just be awkward and inappropriate, or something. An opportunity arises however a couple of weeks later when Camden is summoned back to the New Jersey office to tie up some things and liaise with benefactors who haven’t quite warmed to his replacement. It should take a minimum of three weeks so the company have booked him a hotel suite there, Camden did ask Brittany if she wanted to go with him but they’ve only just moved here, Brittany still has things to do like the house and looking for work and getting used to the area (and seeing Santana.) Camden leaves Saturday morning and that afternoon Brittany is pulling into Santana’s driveway.
It’s a nice house, Brittany can see Santana living somewhere like this, well she does obviously, unless Brittany has arrived at the wrong house, but it suits Santana, or the Santana she used to know at least. It’s not huge, but it’s not small, it’s comfortable. It’s white, clean, pristine, no fuss, a glass room is obscured by wooden blinds, Brittany imagines that the décor is modern. One thing does surprise her, but then maybe it doesn’t, Santana is in law after all. A sports car. A very flashy sports car. Santana used to swear blind her hatred for sports cars. Maybe it’s not hers. Brittany’s stomach lurches, what if it’s a boyfriend’s or a girlfriend’s? What if she’s interrupting a romantic weekend? Brittany thinks about walking back to the car and driving away, but now she’s here she can’t stop, her curiosity gets the better of her. But curiosity kills the cat. Brittany’s never quite understood that saying, Macavity was a curious thing (the times she caught him reading her diary) but he never died from curiosity, just general old age.
Brittany takes a deep breath, her face is set; she is seeing Santana today. A shaky finger reaches out to press the doorbell.
