Stildyne cleared his throat before approach, because the woman looked wound tight to fire. He had a tray in both hands-- don't shoot, the meatroll isn't loaded, the safety's on the mashed tubers.

"Pardon. Have I got your face wrong. Or are you the one who'd put out a call for sparring partners?" A cautious greeting, sentence cordoned into pieces so that he could inspect each part. He'd been getting off on the wrong foot like it was his job, the past week.
