Loved it. Very hot and I do think you got the dialogue right on. Very subtextual throughout.

Thanks! Glad to know that my first time writing slash was successful. And I'm glad you enjoyed the subtext; I felt it was in keeping with the theme of the show.

So, should I write more slash?

I liked: "Daniel tasted like coffee. Jack wanted coffee." Nice images. :-)

Have to say that I rather enjoyed that image myself.

And not just the image of tasting Daniel. Though, that..... *drool*

Aha! Astronauts vs Cavemen! Jack watches too much television.

I really enjoyed this. The dialogue was perfect. And hot. Very hot.

Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed it (and the dialogue).

I was wondering how many people would get that Astronauts vs. Cavemen reference. ;) Glad to see there's a few Angel/SG fans out there.

So, should I write more slash?

I remember watching that episode of Angel and being amused that they were rehashing my old pirates vs. ninjas argument. ;-)

Yes, by all means, write more slash. Much more.

Pirates vs. Ninjas? Ninjas. Totally. *nods sagely*

Well, if you command more slash....

...uh... I guess I have to do it?

this fic was so great! very angsty and worded very nicely

cavemen and astronauts!!! haha wasnt that from Angel!? loved that :)

Thank you! I was trying to lighten some of the angst--particularly through the astronauts and cavemen argument at the end. And yes, that was a reference to Angel in the episode "A Hole in the World." Sometimes Jack and Daniel's arguments remind me of Angel and Spike. And mostly I can't resist an homage to Joss Whedon. ;)

Glad you enjoyed it. Think I should keep writing slash?

Since people seem to be reacting well to it, I think I might continue. Have to admit, it was rather enjoyable. And I do so love writing Jack and Daniel.

You are an excellent writer. This may not come as a surprise to you, but your polish and experience shows in every line. It's rare that during a story I find one line after another that is so dead-on for the characters and the moment that I wanted to copy half the text to tell you how much I liked it.

But at a certain point I grew so wrapped up in the story I didn't bother. These two moments stood out before I gave up the ghost and flowed into the story:

"I don't hate you." So very Daniel, to have his mind still intact.

Daniel was just-Daniel. Beautiful, or some other sentimental crap was not going to cross Jack's mind. Oh yes, Jack's determination, so very Jack ( ... )

Thank you. I need to take a moment to bask in your extremely complimentary and ego-enlarging praise. ;)

Then Jack's out of the blue (and so strange and yet so dead on) argument... snicker.

I have to admit, I stole the argument from Joss Whedon. It appeared in the episode "A Hole in the World" from Angel. But it is the perfect nonsensical argument for Jack and Daniel to embrace.

Surprisingly, that tells us more about the relationship than the more obvious moments.

I think so. There's a push/pull between them, but also mutual respect. I think a lot of fic writers forget that (and the fact that they're both men and are therefore masculine). I'm glad that message came through (what with all the subtlety).

Thanks for taking the time to review. I have a feeling that you probably review as I do--when a story really strikes me as being something special and I have to say something. So your comments really mean quite a bit.

This is (so far) my only piece of slash, but I do have a few other SG fics. All my SG fics are here. And ( ... )

Can I steal your feedback? Because everything you just said? I was thinking the same thing in my head. I do the copying lines bit myself, but since I probably woulda copied the whole fic, I decided against it. Cuz the characterizations were just so THEM. You got that FB spot on. What are you in my brain? *weg*

Frontal lobe, take a left at the occipital bone and just follow the curve. ;)

Wow, I left that a while ago.
