I don't see how your view is contrary to religion, especially Christians who have no problem with evolution. Let's not replicate the problem again. Religion doesn't worship scientific explanation. Religion worships God for having done it all.

I was oversimplifying things for the sake of humor. Judaism has a lot more going for it than Chinese restaurants, Islam is complex for days, and even atheism isn't nearly as simple as I made it out to be. If I offended you, I'm sorry, but honestly, it's not even religion that gets up my nose. It's people, and the types of people that think of science as a tool for the wicked atheists to lure good Christians away from the Jesus do tend to hold a slightly more nuanced version of the beliefs I highlighted above. Can't give an exact percentage right now, because the research I do is the kind where I read an article five years ago and then struggle to remember it while I'm still annoyed.
