I don't know about anyone else, but I'm actually kindof against just a straight exchange. =/ I've done a few before and always worked my butt off to make sure I got things done, but there's always a few people who either drop out for legit reasons (RL emergency, family stuff, ect) or are just too lazy/unmotivated to finish on time, and it's never fun for people who end up with their prompts not filled, especially if they got their stuff done.

Though, in my experience this comm is full of super-awesome people, so it might work here. :D This has just been my personal experience.

Yeah I was thinking about that myself, I've never personally participated in an exchange (just 'athons) but I do know of the disappointments other people can experience. Even with our super-awesome people, the time of year and just the chance that things could happen might be an obstacle.

Though it seems in the case of fanwork-athons and last year's lovefest, there's no real 'obligation' in that you haven't specifically promised anything to anyone :|a so somehow people may feel more inclined to participate.

We'll see how the poll turns out, but people seem to have enjoyed the lovefest last year 8D

October-December isn't the good period for me. There's the Nano in November (+IRL stuff), and in December Chritsmas exchanges usually start.

I saw a christmas exchange over at kalmarunionen last year and it worked just fine, with the right number of pinch-hitters and diligent members. But I must say that was the only exchange so far that I followed closely, so I fear the not-working type is more usual.

Otherwise I'm looking forward to anything you will prepare for us - the only thing I would be against is a fanworkathon longer than one week.

I've seen a lot of exchanges as a third party and most of the time it works out with pinch-hitters and stuff, but I guess the other two options leave a little less room for disappointment in a way.

At the moment it seems pretty tied, I'll give other people the chance to vote for a while and make a final decision.

With the fanworkathon it'd either be I guess structured like the fluffathon or I'd give out set prompts a month before and then people post them for a week long 'athon' with the prompt corresponding to a specific day etc :|a

Sorry, but not really interested. Last time I joined a fan exchange on LJ, I invested my heart and soul into my part and the other person never even bothered to glance at it.
