I had read Spock's reasoning correctly from "In Mutual Orbit", but it didn't hurt to indulge in the obligatory emotionally charged ponn farr scene from a female Kirk perspective. I love when Kirk dishes with Uhura afterwards, as someone who hopes such a friendship between them will be canon one day.

Thanks so much for writing this deleted scene. Spock's motivation makes a lot more sense to me now. At first, I had a hard time with his characterization, but then I decided that Nyota most likely didn't know his motivation 100%, so we as readers didn't either. And then the rest of the fic happened and all was put to rights, and I ended up feeling that the breakup was ultimately very in character for Spock.

Okay, I'll stop yammering on at you! Wonderful job on this and the longer piece!
