I'd dispute #6 -- I've done pastas in the crock pot plenty of times and they've always come out fine. Perhaps the author lets the pasta cook too long?

I agree. I've had some really wonderful crock-pot mac 'n cheeses.

+1. Crock pot lasagna is almost a staple for my sister's birthday in July, since my mom doesn't want to heat up the kitchen by having to bake.

I should point out with some amount of amusement that near where it said "don't cook pasta," in the adjacent column was a link to a slow cooker mac & cheese recipe.

I did find the 'don't put herbs / crunchy veggies / dairy in there til the end' a really helpful reminder.

Some of the other ones haven't really been my experience or my deal though.

I have never made mac-and-cheese in a crock, it sounds great!

Also for whoever posted about yogurt: wow, the only time I tried it it was super loose-set and delicious and it was like I couldn't stop eating it til it was ALL GONE. So I've never tried again. Good luck with it though!

I agree with most of the comments over there (something I rarely say on the internet). Some of these are just a matter of taste, really. I always toss stew meat into the crock pot raw and the meat turns out just fine. With stew, I kind of like mushy veggies, so I toss the carrots in at the beginning along with the potatoes. To each his own.

I'm a mushy veggie lover too and always throw them in in the beginning.. Same if I roast a chicken in the oven - it sits in a pile of veggies and broth and they get very soft.. Mmmm

I don't know, but I was just able to delete all of those comments as spam. Maybe it was because I was the originator of this entry. In any case, I think this batch of comments are gone.
