Alfredo Sauce

May 03, 2010 21:57

I have a bottle of pre-made Alfredo sauce in my refrigerator, but no fettuccine left to make pasta. Would this kind of sauce be able to with stand cooking in the crock all day? I was thinking of maybe sticking some chicken and veggies in the crock with it. Would this even taste good? If not.. anyone have any ideas on how to use up this sauce ( Read more... )

do you have no pasta at all?
It's really good to dip bread sticks also this recipie

veggie ham alfredo soup
2 cans chicken broth
2 cans evaporated milk
1 tablespoon dried parsley
pepper to taste
1 small onion, chopped
1 cup carrots, diced
1 cup celery, diced
4-5 potatoes, peeled and diced
1 cup frozen french cut green beans
1 ½ cups chopped ham
1 jar alfredo sauce
4 oz. cream cheese

Add all ingredients except for the alfredo sauce and cream cheese to a big pot and bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer and cover. Cook until potatoes are soft, then add alfredo sauce and cream cheese. Heat through until cream cheese melts. Serve with hot rolls.

No noodles at all :( If all else fails, I'll make some garlic bread and just use it as dipping sauce, but that sounds delicious! I might try making something similar with the measly days-before-payday ingredients I have!

i would think the sauce will break and separate if you try to crockpot it. It's really more of a finishing sauce than a simmer sauce.

That's what I was a afraid of :( Oh well. Maybe I'll try cooking some chicken in the crock and then throwing the sauce on top.

I do a Chicken Alfredo Bake. Brown the chicken on both sides with a little salt and pepper seasoning, once cooked through, throw it in a baking dish, sprinkle with fresh minced garlic and sun dried tomatoes/or roasted red peppers, cover the whole thing in sauce, bake @ 325ish for 20 minutes and wala! Super easy, super quick, and easily modified.

This, yes. I did this last week, and the only thing I did differently was the veggie mix. I cut up some mushrooms, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted red peppers, and artichoke hearts, and added in some capers. Superyum.
