From what I remember from a recipe I saw, you have to first make the sticky rice as it's meant to be made (well-soaked before hand, wrapped in a big banana leaf or equiv. and steamed), and then you mix the coconut milk and sugar, pour it over the sticky rice and steam a little bit longer. You could PROBABLY do the whole steaming process in the crock, but it doesn't seem to me like the proper tool for the job, unless you lack anything else to cook with. A steamer would probably do it best.

You don't need a banana leaf to properly make sticky rice. Any Asian grocery store will sell a metal pot and bamboo basket that sticky rice gets cooked in.

Yes, the basket is the way to go, it works very well. I'm sure you can order them online, too.

Sticky rice with fresh mango and coconut milk = best food in the world!
