A meatloaf success

My grandmother is in the hospital recovering from hip surgery, and I'm in charge of the house while she's away (I live with her). I got inspired by this post about making meatloaf in the crockpot and decided to give it a try last week ( Read more... )

looks yummy! It cooked on the tin foil? I didnt know that was allowed. It doesn't affet the taste or anything??

No, it tasted fine. I've heard of people sitting a chicken on balls of tinfoil to cook it whole in the crock if they don't have a rack. It keeps it from sitting in its juices.

I have a rack, but I was afraid the loaf might be too big for it, hence the foil.

Oats? Might need to try that.

I guess it's just how I was raised, but I have never understood the practice of topping a meatloaf with ketchup. I've had it, and despite my loathing of mushrooms I still prefer my meatloaf topped with a can of cream of mushroom soup.
