I think there are some crocks that CAN go on the stovetop... I have a feeling that the instructions for mine said you could. seeing as I never have, nor do I have the book nearby, I'm not 100% sure, but I do recall something about browning a roast...
well, at least you can have fun buying a new crock!!! I had an unfortunate bacon incident this summer where we tried to grill it over a bbq using one of those tin grill pans. It went from almost done to burnt to on fire in about 30 seconds. Bacon is a volatile substance!!!!
