I've made teriyaki wings in the crock pot before using this recipe and they turned out really good:

Ooh...that looks really, really good.

Do you think that replacing the sherry with a white grape juice would hurt anything?

I'd add a little white grape juice & a bit of rice wine vinegar to get the sweet with a bit of tang, if I weren't using sherry.

We have both of those. Thank you for the suggestion.

I'm antsy about cooking with alcohol, so I always look for alternatives.

Pour a quarter of a cup of liquid smoke in the bottom of the crock, put in the legs, cook on low for six to eight hours, turning occasionally.

I usually use a meat thermometer to make sure they're cooked all the way through.

Just the liquid smoke and no other liquid? It's a six quart pot (I think) so would that be enough?

Believe me, a little liquid smoke goes a long way!

Chicken tends to cook in shorter periods than "all day" but I did make a recipe today that went for 6-7 hours.

2.5-3lbs (I actually used 4-something lbs and it was fine) of chicken drumsticks or thighs, skinned
2 14-oz cans chopped tomatoes
2 tsp brown sugar
1 Tbsp grated fresh ginger
2 Tbsp instant tapioca
1 Tbsp snipped fresh cilantro or parsley
4 cloves garlic, minced
(recipe also called for a dash or three of crushed red pepper, but you can skip that)

Place skinned chicken in crock. Drain one can of tomatoes. Combine the drained can with the other can (with juices) and remaining ingredients in a bowl. Pour on top of chicken. Cook on LOW for 6-7 hours or HIGH for 3-3.5 hours. Serve with rice or couscous. Was tasty and the chicken was falling-off tender. The only real time commitment was to skin the chicken and the rest was a snap.

Oh that would be great! My wife doesn't like the skins on the chicken (I do, but she says I'm weird), so she'll love this one!

Thank you!

Just about any recipe that calls for whole chicken or chicken breasts or chicken thighs, can be used for drumsticks. Check the tags for a recipe recently that used orange juice concentrate- that was a good one. There was another even more recent that used chopped onion and mustard as the main ingredients. I also like using a jar of spaghetti sauce thinned with about a cup of water; makes a great meal with pasta and peas! Good luck!

Thank you for the suggestions. I wasn't sure if drumsticks would work well with recipes that specified breasts/thighs or not.

you can try preparing coke chicken! yes, like regular cans of coke. not the diet ones. someone once prepared it for me, and i dont remember any other ingredients used except chickens and multiple cans of coke!

it turned out pretty yummy and i was skeptical at first too!!

It sounds interesting at the least. You never know with things like this, wish you had the recipe, but I Googled (hooray Google!) and found this list: http://www.cooks.com/rec/search/0,1-0,coke_chicken,FF.html

Maybe it's in there somewhere?

im sorry, i dont have a recipe!

but it was just chicken wings submerged in a pot of coke! and left to boil, then simmer on low fire. it was pretty fast, maybe abt 20mins max?

im glad you found it interesting. and im sure there are other ways of prep according to the link you gave, but i guess what you want is a recipe thats more hassle-free? (:
