Disasters?

I'm the kind of person who has no trouble learning from other people's mistakes. So, that said, I want to know your biggest Crock Pot disasters! Tell me what went wrong, why, and possibly how to fix it! That way I won't make the same mistake!

Why, though? What did you do that made it turn out like that? What were you supposed to do that would have stopped it?

i threw a big london broil in the crockpot wtih some veggies, bbq sauce, and some smoked paprika...

i did not realize at the time that a london broil should be grilled etc...

anyway it was a steak that tasted like meatloaf smells... it was gross.

I made a pork dish that would have been fine, except I got home, turned off the crockpot and then went out to do other errands, completely forgetting that though the heating element was off, it was not suddenly cold. Came home to burned, undercooked pork.

I also made a really disgusting chicken dish out of a recipe book that called for concentrate frozen lemonade and ketchup when I was first getting started. It was nasty, and not solely because I used the wrong size can of lemonade.

I made that lemonade chicken too. It was vomit-worthy.

I made this http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/robin-miller/slow-cooker-chicken-with-rosemary-apples-and-onions-recipe/index.html

The first time I made it, it came out delicious. The second time...I have no idea what happened, but the entire thing was liquified. I took the lid off the crock and it was just mush with a layer of fat on top. It was so sad, because it smelled wonderful all day!

I have made the stupid mistake of getting home and wondering why my house does not smell like the wonderful meal I threw in the crock that morning only to realize I forgot to plug in the crock pot. :( I actually think I may have forgotten to plug it in today, and won't know til I get home tonight. Sad...
