*bouncybouncybouncy*

Hey there! I just got a 4 Quart Crock because I work and then go to school and then I'm just too darn tired to cook run on sentence!

Anyway, I am looking for recipes that can cook on low for about 9 hours. Simple is good until I get a bit more experience.

Thanks!!

Get a boneless roast small enough to fit in to the crock. Fill it with water to the line. Cook it on low for however long you need to. When you get home, shred the meat with a fork. Great with green onion. If you want, you can add a few veggies but it'll taste pretty good with just the broth and the meat. Nine hours shouldn't be too much. You can brown the meat first if you want but I don't think it's necessary.

Sorry, I was half asleep. About three quarters of the way up, maybe an inch or so below the endge of the crock.

For 9 hours inexpensive cuts of beef come out great in the crock, and stuff like chili.

Speaking of chili, I found a recipe for chili which is pretty simple but I want to make sure it fits in my pot. It asked for 2.5 lb of ground beef, and 1 lb of cubed beef... 32 oz of tomato sauce and 42 oz stewed tomato...and then everything else is in cups! I can have a total of 16 cups of stuff in my crock (probably closer to 15 if you count air between things and stuff)... the other ingredients equals about 6 cups. Am I ok?

Dude! that's like higher math!

ok, 8 oz in a cup, 32 + 42 = 74, 74 / 8 = 9.25

so 6 cups + almost 10 = 16, it would just fit.

Wait, that's not counting the beef. ugh.

*brain hurts*

Use a smaller can of stewed or diced tomato & see if it fits? You are close, but I can't tell by how much. Is there liquid like water or beer? you could cut it in 1/2 as well.

There are 8 LIQUID ounces in a cup. Stewed Tomatoes are solidish, contain air, and do all sorts of other loopy things to the calculations. But yes, the sauce, that's my duh. :)

Just to be safe, I am going to cut down this recipe by 1/4 for everything. I think this was made for a 6 or 8 quart.

Frozen chicken thighs. Just throw in a couple with a little liquid before you leave & then you have a nice tasty meal when you get home at night.

Barbecue sauce and chicken breasts are a no-fail. :) You can also do the chicken breasts with a couple cans of the cream of soups, and those would be good too. Do some rice with them, and that would be very yummy. :)
