This is a great community. Alas I have no chili recipe I can vouch for, because that's one thing I haven't made in my crock.

Wild, chili is one of the only things I make in my crock pot!

1lbs ground beef
1 clove garlic
2 tbsp chili powder (I tend to add way more as I like it hotter)
1 can kidney beans (I tend to drain half the liquid from the can - oh, and these are big 28 oz. cans)
1 can crushed tomatoes (another 28 oz. can)
1 tbsp tomato paste
assorted veggies (usually I use mushrooms, onions, green peppers and red peppers)

brown ground beef with garlic; add chili powder
toss in crck with veggies, kidney beans, tomatoes and tomato paste
cook 'er til she's done (low for 6-ish hours or high for 3 or 4 usually)

You can add other beans as well, but this is generally the set of ingredients I use. Enjoy!

Awesome sounding recipe!

Thanks so much. I'm glad I can do the chili in the crock - I don't think I'd like to stand over a hot stove in July. (actually, there's ever a time that I'd like to stand over a hot stove!)

I have thrown a chili recipe together and Love it.

I use chopped up chicken
kindey beans
black beans
tomatoes
onions
butter
jalapenos
chili powder
garlic

I do this all by taste and eye. I rarely use recipes and everything turns out great.

thanks for the recipe. I don't know if I'm brave enough for the jalapenos, but I'll try the rest!

Good luck. I love to experiment with food. It is funny because my mom will ask me for recipes and I never know. I just go with taste. So I have had to actually write my recipes as I make things so she can have it. Hey I guess I can start my own recipe book for my kids to share with their kids one day.
