On the heels of our crusader visit, we head to another time period represented nearby, to the Byzantine Dead Cities and the one of four Seleucid capital cities, Apamea. Well it sounds at least like the Syrians are interested in excavating BEFORE destroying the sites.

This was wonderful!!! My passion has long been the Byzantines and especially ex-Constantinople. How I wish I could see these. Dreaming in a roofless house....did the previous inhabitants speak to you? I used to have that experience when I lived on Crete and went to Phaistos in the winter.
