Many people I've suggested Dark Dance tochangingtheskyNovember 9 2006, 18:44:50 UTC
have not liked it for similar reasons. They felt Rachaela was "too detached", "too icy", "too removed and self-isolated."
Which, of course, is why I adored the book and the character.
I still relate to her. I did from the first read. It's probably time for me to read those three books again! Winter and Autumn are the perfect time periods for that indulgence.

Precisely.
The Scarabae, as a matter of tradition and principle, have little use for the mundane populace.
Poetically, few things raise the ire of the mundane to the mob level than the unsettling notion that they are somehow irrelevant.
I think that you would really appreciate San Francisco at night. I'm talking about when it's Autumn, foggy, and 2am. The neon lights create this colorful haze. When the streets are damp they reflect it.
The old and unique architecture. The bridge. The ocean.
Well, which person would be easier to visit due to the cheaper plane ticket, bub? YEAH. Me! So, you can take your tea and crumpets and blow them out your pooper.
(Sorry to make this comment thread down and dirty, Wewelsburg, but I had to school this dude.)
Woman! What are you doing out of the kitchen? Where's my pie!?! You just go munch on your sour-dough soup bowls and leave the fog-hazed-2am-wanderings to the professionals. Some things are worth paying more to get right. Now get them shoes off and get my pie!
Apologies to you, my dear Wewelsburg, for bringing the lower forms of sniping to what was otherwise a clear and substantial post from you. Have no fears, I'll find a coke machine in the hallway somewhere and keep Handleschmandle pinned with a frenzied torrid hug, well away from any keyboard.
