My grandparents raised quails. Year after year I would sit closely and wait until they hatched. I kept a vigil for the first week to be sure they weren't trampling each other in all of the excitement of their new found freedom. After I moved to the U.S. I always wondered if someone had taken over my job of keeping the chicks safe. My birthday is on Thursday too. I'll be 28.
