Computer advice needed

I've decided to get myself a laptop before this desktop dies. I'd like something basic and not too expensive, I only do arts and I don't game, so it needn't be too high tech, but I'd like it to be decent, with wireless capability. What do you think of this? I'm looking at the last two options, and was wondering if they looked okay... I'm not sure ( Read more... )

I'm not sure about what type of processor the AMD is, but I'd recommend at least Pentium 3 or Centrino. I don't game (well, Puzzle Pirates occasionally, but that's different), but it's nice to have a few applications running on your computer at the same time without everything being spectacularly slow.

A good idea is to go into Myers or Officeworks and ask the people there about the type of hardware you'll need. You don't have to buy their hardware, just string them along for advice :)

lol i too have an acer aspire! ^_^

AMD is an okay processer ing, but for a laptop, its best to get centrino. it makes the laptop live longer.

NO! asking via livejournal simply wont do. you NEED to ask emily to hook you up with some email forumz so that you can start another HUGE argument and amuse me. abbey asked whether she should get a 20 or 24 inch screen and it started the biggest argument ever! it was great. but if you want to be boring and not start a huge argument...get a vaio...i dont know anything about them and i think they cost a lot but they're pretty lookin. im getting a laptop too but mine needs ninja graphics and huge amounts of memory and ram to run my programs...also im buying it from the americas so i cant help you :(

its best to first go into a bunch of stores, generally they'll get you better value for money because salesmen always want to sell a product more than a website. plus you have the ability to get more out of them and find out more about the product.

only dont ask them "does this laptop do ...." cuz if they wanna sell it, they'll often tell you they do more than they actually can do. evil salesmen. take a geek with you!!
