All About You
1. Describe your ideal house/home. Please go into as much detail as possible, and be sure to include your ideal geographical location in the description!.
A red-brick colonial with white columns. The house is surrounded by a rolling green lawn. Inside, my home is classic, but with a comfortable, lived-in feel. Located not near, but not in, a vibrant city.
2. Imagine you’re given the classic opportunity: a genie granting you three wishes. What would you wish for? Please be as elaborate as you can. Wishing for more wishes is not permitted!
First: For my younger brother to find something in life that makes him happy. He is incredibly intelligent, but is struggling right now. I don't know what would give hims satisfaction from life. I stress a lot on his behalf. He doesn't.
Second: A personal assistant to run my errands, book my appointments, and return calls/texts for me. I'm a very detail-oriented person when it comes to projects, but not when it comes to my personal life. Returning text messages is the bane of my existence.
Third: An advance copy of the manuscript of George Martin's next book. I don't know how my impatient self is going to last until he gets around to publishing book six!
3. In your life so far, what accomplishment are you the most proud of? Why? You can list more than one if you have trouble deciding. ;)
I'm pretty baller at school.
4. Which of the following is most important to you: Love, Money, Knowledge, Family, Friendship, Adventure, or Pleasure? Which is the least important to you? Please explain why for each choice.
Most important --> Knowledge: I love learning. I love knowing things. People disappoint. Places get old. I tend to get very enraptured in whatever has caught my eye. I like to think that I'm pretty good at knowing whether I know things. On any subject, I can tell you pretty immediately whether I can help you or not.
Least important --> This is super hard --> But, I guess if I must choose… --> Adventure. Right now I'm not experiencing a ton of adventures outside fiction and happy-hour.
5. What's one quote (or passage, song lyric, etc.) that effectively describes you and your values? Explain.
"Bitches ain't shit but hos and tricks." - Dr. Dre (just kidding, obviously).
Actually:
“Whether we are describing a king, an assassin, a thief, an honest man, a prostitute, a nun, a young girl, or a stallholder in a market, it is always ourselves that we are describing.” - Guy de Maupassant
I chose the above quote because life is just so damn malleable. People are all the stars of their own television show. The questions people ask matter a lot more than the answers they give.
6. How do you manage your money? On that note, how important is money/financial security to you? Go into as much detail as you can.
Well, I'm student and don't have a lot to manage right now. When I work during the summers I "tithe" 25% of my paychecks to Future Jenna.
Financial security is pretty important to me. I don't think money, in and of itself, is what drives me. I don't love spending money, but I like to feel like I have options. I want to be able to walk away from a job I hate, and take advantage of opportunities that come my way. To borrow an overused phrase: money won't buy happiness, but it will let you choose your sorrow.
7. Name (and elaborate on) some of your hobbies. What are your favorite things to do outside of school/the office?
The most often: Reading fan fiction. I spend a ridiculous amount of time doing this. I started my LJ last year primarily so I could leave non-anonymous reviews on the work I read.
The most enjoyable: Skiing! I started skiing when I was four, and ever since nothing beats the feeling of rushing down the mountain.
8. Name three things you are afraid of. Explain.
First: Eye disfigurement. Ever since I read Oedipus Rex I get seriously squicked about anything to do with eyeballs. It took me almost two months to get comfortable enough touching my eyes to put in contact lenses.
Second: Failure. Er, I have pride issues?
Third: Rats. Another book-inspired fear: that scene from 1984 has seriously stuck with me. The thought of a cage of rats on my face… *shudders*
9. Name (and elaborate on) your top three BEST and top three WORST qualities (personality-related, not physical). Please answer as fully as you can, as this is an important question.
I'll get the bad out of the way first, and leave end on a positive note.
My three worst qualities:
I'm judgmental. In work / organizations I tend to have very high expectations of how people should be doing things. I'm not particularly good at disguising when someone has annoyed me, and honestly, I don't spend much time trying.
I'm competitive. I like being the best at things.
I don't take enough time considering how I come off to other people. I don't enjoy small talk with people I don't know, and am not particularly good at faking it. My friends tell me that I came off as impatient when we first met.
My three best qualities:
Creating Systems: I'm very good at looking at a problem, breaking it down into its component parts, and implementing a plan. Doing so gives me a happy.
I'm pragmatic. I love to theorize, but--at the end of the day--does it work? If not. my pragmatism tells me to move on.
Honesty. I tell it like it is and don't mince words. But I'm also always willing to admit when I'm in the wrong, or when someone else has a better approach to solving a problem.
A Song of Ice and Fire Related
1.How many books from the series have you completed? All of them.
2.Who are your favorite three characters in the series? Why?
THIS QUESTION. I really enjoy multiple POV storytelling and choosing only three characters makes me cry inside, but here it goes:
(1) Dany.
She's a badass. She leans from her mistakes. And did I mention that she has dragons? Anyway, she's my #1.
(2) Adrianne
She has a healthy sense of entitlement, but can still be made to see the error of her ways. I can't wait to see how she shakes up King's Landing when she joins the small council.
(3) Sansa.
I had such a hard time deciding whether to choose Sansa or Arya for my last pick. Sansa won out because she gets so much undeserved hate in this fandom, so I love her a little extra to make up for it. I'm looking forward to her becoming more of a player. Hopefully after she kills Petyr.
3.Who are your least favorite three characters in the series? Why?
Okay, the first two characters I'd like to see less (or never). And the third--well, I love to hate Littlefinger. Even though I hate him, I'd like to see more of Petyr Baelish.
(1) Victarion. I hate reading his POV. I hope Dany kills him if he ever finds her. Actually, I don't care about any of the iron born besides Asha (and Theon, a little).
(2) Davos. He's a nice enough guy, but I'm bored with him. And Stannis.
(3) Littlefinger. He's so sneaky! I'm in the middle of a reread right now, and he's responsible for so much more evil than I originally realized. But he's a character I love to hate. I can't wait to see how his story turns out.
4.#1 Favorite moment in all of ASOIAF so far? Why?
When Dany rides off on Drogon. Because it was about-damn-time!
5. In your dream-world, how would you like to see the series end, and why?
Dany wins the Iron Throne, and either rules Westeros or leaves because she is disillusioned with the people of the Seven Kingdoms.
Jon turns out to be Azor Ahai reborn; Arya turns out to be the sword from the prophecy.
One of Dany's dragons chooses Jon as rider; the dragon spooks Ghost (terrible sign, right?) so Ghost lives out his days with Sansa; Sansa gets revenge on everyone who wronged her.
