*sighs happily*

I love that you didn't make the vacation perfect. That they argued and fussed and fidgeted and whined like real people who love each other in spite of, not just because of. I adore this calm kind of John, who doesn't worry about how much he loves Rodney because that's not important. It just is.

I especially love Kayla, who is growing up as frustratingly as every other girl out there, but is still Kayla and wonderful and.

This was fantastic, lovey. Thank you.

Thanks, honey! You would probably not be shocked to find out how many of the things in this story came directly from my own life, LOL! This is a fun version of John/Rodney to write. I love snarky Rodney. :-)

What you call cheerleading I call asking for more porn. *G* This was awesome and shiny!

I just dropped by to re-read "On life and Living", and this was here waiting! That'll keep me smiling for the rest of the day, until I get time to read it.

You know that feeling where you want to smile and laugh and maybe cry all at the same time? This 'verse gets me like that. I've been looking forward to this since I first saw it mentioned in fire_fic, and the story lived up to my expectations.

Kayla remains my favorite fanfic child ever. I love seeing how she's changed over the years, both through general growing up and through Rodney's influence.

My favorite parts: Rodney and Kayla acting like lunatics; the pop culture references throughout (because my family does that, so it felt real to me. I swear, I clapped and laughed when Kayla quoted Jayne); Sam falling in love. This is a gorgeous slice of life, with the annoyances and frustrations, along with the love. Thank you so much for sharing it!

Thank you so much. I'm really glad you like Kayla -- she's not based on any real child I know, although I have a similarly-aged niece who at least helps me figure out the way kids that age talk. My circle of friends, in high school and then college and then post-college and now online, has always been made up of the kinds of people who reference pop culture constantly, and my 7 year old son's favorite quote currently is from The Tick -- "gravity is a harsh mistress."

I'm so pleased you enjoyed the story! :-D

my 7 year old son's favorite quote currently is from The Tick -- "gravity is a harsh mistress." *grins* My nine year old likes to hold up one hand (as though he's holding a puppet) and say "It's the Iliad? It's Homer? Read a book!" Which is all the more amusing as he won't go near the Iliad with a ten foot pole.
