The wall peeled up along one corner and Hinata poked her head in incredulously. She hadn't expected the inn to be on the other side of a tent flap, it just didn't seem right...though in this case it was convenient. She stepped through, the wall flapping down behind her, and knuckled her eyes. It was her turn for watch and she wasn't exactly awake ( Read more... )

"You should look at where you're walking."

This one is wearing a sphinx on its head.

She spends a moment eyeing both paths as well.

"I am not sure. They might move. I think that I can, because I would be able to choose a different path, but there are ways that they could move that would keep me from getting away."

"Right. S-start heading that way and I'll follow b-behind to help you if they move?" she offered. Hinata really didn't want them to be there if the things started dancing or something.

"Yes." A moment passes as she calculates the most likely escape route, then ZING.

She is a fast sphinx. She does not want to stick around the statues very long.

Hinata was a heartbeat behind, taking a slightly different route so she could keep an eye on things. They were moving not a moment too soon too, since the inner rings of statue were starting to move in time to the piping.

That brightly colored light in the far hallway? Was light reflecting off a ball pit and plastic tubes.

This is the sphinx: *_*

No child can resist the allure of ball pits.

She is now completely submerged in multicolored hollow spheres. And laughing a bit.

Well, it was a lot better than moving, creepy statues? And Hinata, well, she was only thirteen. The ball pit had almost as much appeal.

Somewhere in the brightly colored bunch, she brushed against the baby sphinx and giggled "Tag, you're it!"

....climbing the netting was totally acceptable right?

RIGHT!

Of course, first she had to wade over to the netting, but that was just details!

LEGS DISAPPEARED.

She peeks up through the top layer of balls.

Then jumps.

Little hands flail, little wings flail, and she doesn't really manage to hover or get close enough to tag.

So it's time to clamber up in the netting!

Hinata squeaked in delight as the sphinx tried to fly; it was adorable. It took her a moment to realize the pursuit was now on the netting as well.

Letting go of the net and dropping seemed like the best option.

Or maybe not, because she is from a species that often hunts things from the air!

There is a stunning midair tackle and a ballsplosion.

And Hinata is bapped on the forehead. "You're it!"

Well, live and learn! No more falling in front of sphinxes!

The ballsplosion was a really good cover for baby fuzzballs to disappear into. Hinata was left standing, balls up to her waist, and looking around carefully for any sign of a tail or wings.
